Weldon Heart Community Hub and Wellbeing Pavilion
The two-storey, 1,000m² Wellbeing Pavilion includes a multi-use sports hall, gym, café, managed reception and changing facilities. The second building, the Neighbourhood House, provides adaptable spaces for community activities and events.
Outdoor facilities comprise an FA-standard 3G pitch, two tennis courts and landscaped green areas, supported by structured parking designed for accessibility.
A core focus of the project is sustainability, with a design ambition to achieve BREEAM Outstanding, underlining a commitment to environmentally responsible construction and long-term performance.
The project required delivery of multi-use community buildings and extensive outdoor facilities in a way that combined design excellence, sustainability and value for the client and community. The ambition to achieve BREEAM Outstanding called for rigorous planning, early design coordination and precise execution to meet energy performance and environmental standards.

Sustainability at the core:
- The design incorporates cross laminated timber to significantly reduce embodied carbon and enhance energy efficiency.
- Adoption of advanced insulation, passive solar design and natural ventilation to optimise performance.
Community-first delivery:
- Local workforce engagement to maximise economic and social benefits.
- Educational opportunities through schools and local organisations, demonstrating sustainable construction in action.
- Ongoing dialogue with stakeholders to ensure facilities met evolving community needs.
