Therese House

Fast-track refurbishment of student accommodation within an occupied building
Sinden was appointed by University Properties Ltd to deliver the refurbishment and reconfiguration of Therese House, a student accommodation building located in the Barbican.

The scheme increased bed numbers from 247 to 250 through the conversion of cluster flats into studio and two-bedroom units, alongside the full refurbishment of bedrooms and communal areas. Works included upgrades to kitchens, new furniture and fittings, floor finishes and decorations throughout.

Works were undertaken within a live, occupied building, requiring careful coordination to minimise disruption to residents while maintaining safety and programme efficiency.

The project was delivered to a strict programme deadline, with students due to occupy the building at the start of term.  The fast-track nature of the scheme required careful sequencing of trades and working practices to maintain quality across all areas.
