Hillside and Warrender Primary School Expansions

Careful planning and phasing were essential to maintaining safe and effective school operations throughout the works. Regular communication with the school community and local residents helped keep stakeholders informed and ensured any concerns were addressed promptly.
At Hillside, the site's challenging topography required the new building to be constructed over split levels, with a substantial retaining wall incorporated around the new Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA). Accessibility was also a key consideration, with a purpose-built ramp providing inclusive access across the hillside. The staff car park was redesigned and a new drop-off facility introduced with dedicated one-way access routes to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion around the school.

The completed projects have provided Hillside and Warrender with modern learning environments that support growing school communities and create additional pupil places across the borough. New teaching accommodation, enhanced learning spaces and improved external facilities have created high-quality environments for pupils and staff, while accessibility improvements have made the schools easier to navigate and use.
Sustainability was a key consideration throughout both schemes, with automated lighting controls, passive ventilation strategies and photovoltaic systems incorporated to reduce energy consumption and support the schools' long-term environmental objectives. The result is two energy-efficient schools that will continue to serve local communities and support Hillingdon's educational needs for years to come.
