Sutton Life Centre

Transformation of a community facility into a purpose-built SEND college
Sinden was appointed by Sutton Council via the Procure Partnerships Framework to transform the existing Sutton Life Centre into a purpose-built SEND college for Orchard Hill College.

The scheme repurposed the existing building to create a fully inclusive and accessible education environment, supporting students with a range of additional needs.

A key challenge was delivering the works within a live environment, with the existing public library remaining fully operational throughout the construction phase.

This required careful planning and coordination to maintain safe access for the public while ensuring progress on site.

The project also required the integration of specialist education facilities within the constraints of an existing building, ensuring both accessibility and functionality for SEND users.
